Having previously announced by the 4ICU about ranking of colleges, on July 20, 2010, it has also published the ranking of world class universities in the Webometrics where four universities in Indonesia make it into the ranks of the Top 100 universities in Asia.
It is not much different from the findings of the 4ICU, amongst the four universities three of them are state universities, the Institute of Technology Bandung, University of Gadjah Mada University, and University of Indonesia, which respectively ranked 56, 61, and 84. Another one is a private university, the University of Gunadarma, which is perched on the 88th ranking in Asia.
In the Asian region, according to Webometrics data as of July 2010, the university in Asia that ranked first was the University of Tokyo. It was followed by the University of Hong Kong in second place and Kyoto University just below it.
As for the ASEAN region, they are only the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), UI (University of Indonesia), and Gunadarma University which successfully represented Indonesia in the top twenty positions. Meanwhile, the three top-ranked universities in the ASEAN region are the National University of Singapore (NTU), Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University of Thailand.
